Mattel announced via their community post the release of their new Hot Wheels Showcase app to the public.

Mattel was working on the app for quite some time. They had been testing the app for a while now, and they invited beta testers to the program.

With all testing phases done, the HW Showcase app is now available for everyone to download. It is available on both iOS and Android.

I got the chance to download the app on Android. My first impressions are positive. The app is fast and has a catalogue of all the Hot Wheels released until now — 30,000+ cars, with each car having pro images and detailed collectors’ info.

Mattel’s initiative to help collectors digitize is welcome, considering that there are copycat apps that help you digitize your collection. However, they never could give access to all the cars.

It is a must-have app for Hot Wheels collectors who want to digitize their collection.

What I found interesting about the app includes:

  • You can add and organize every Hot Wheels car you own.
  • You can build a wishlist (or in unofficial terms, ISO list …In Search Of list)
  • Track your collection progress, especially when it comes to completing entire series
  • Get collector badges for unlocking milestones and challenges…and showcase them to your community!

In addition to this, the app will also share official updates on releases, exclusives, and events.

How to Use Hot Wheels HW Showcase App

In this section, I’ll show you how to use the new Hot Wheels Showcase App.

The first thing you need to do is download the app from the app store that your phone supports (Android/iOS).

Once installed, open the app. The app will start with the following interface.

Now, go to the bottom right “Profile” tab and log in to your Mattel account.

If you don’t have an account, you can create one for free.

To start collecting, search for the car using the search bar at the top.

As you have noticed, each car has three icons at the bottom.

  • Plus ➕ → This allows you to add the selected car to your collection.
  • Star ⭐ → Allows you to add the car to your favorites list.
  • Three bar🚦+ → let you add your diecast to an existing or new list

Very simple and intuitive.

You’ll see four tabs at the bottom, which include:

  • My Garage → All your cars get added here
  • News tab → Check all Hot Wheels-related news
  • Search → To search the database of 30,000+ cars
  • Profile → Check your profile details

You can also find the rest of the series car under My Garage → Series.

For example, I added the Buggati Veryon to my collection as my favorite or to a list.

Now, I went to My Garage, and under series, I can see the new 2025 Fast & Furious Premium set pop up. If you open it, you will see the rest of the cars in the collection.

You can also add multiple copies of a car to reflect on how many you own.

And, if you want to learn about a Hot Wheels car, you can scroll down after selecting a car to see it details.

I also like how you can sort your car according to date added, segment, and assortment.

My thoughts on the app

As I mentioned earlier, the market was due for such an app. There are plenty of third-party developers and collectors who have created their own apps for self-collection and the community. However, with the release of the official Mattel HW Showcase app, those will become obsolete.

The HW Showcase app is a great start, but it still has a lot of improvements to make. For example, you have to manually choose the car and add it to your collection. This is manageable for new collectors, but what about old collectors with hundreds of Hot Wheels?

I, myself, have more than 300+ Hot Wheels. To catalog all of them can be time-consuming, but it can also be a fun project!

This can be solved by adding an AI-powered scanner to the app that can help visually scan the car and add it without the need to manually search for it.

Overall, HW Showcase is a great Hot Wheels app. Every collector should try it. It still has a lot of improvements in terms of usability, but it is good enough for new and old collectors to use it.
